It's been a little while since DigitalDingus has come across another Adobe Photoshop Elements DVD. Software Cinema has another gifted and professional artist I'd like to introduce to you. Jane Conner-ziser has 19 years of experience, specifically in digital imaging, and 25 years of experience overall in the photography industry. Her talents span a wide variety of subjects from being a teacher to creating her own 4' x 5' hand-painted giclee canvas to being a beta tester for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Elements, and other programs. This DVD covers Adobe Photoshop Elements 4, which is an introductory program to editing images, but has become more robust over the last few years as Adobe realized Photoshop was not for everyone.

Suited Perfectly For Adobe Elements Users

If you haven't purchased any tutorials for Adobe Photoshop Elements, this is a great start. Jane begins the Elements presentation with a warm welcome to and introduces you to the basic windows of Elements. As she moves on into the tutorial, how to setup your workspace and properly saving and cropping files are explored.

Jane presents other features of Elements such as adjusting color, contrasts, retouching skin, soft focus filters, and includes a section preparing your images for print. The DVD contains over four hours of material which can be accessed at any point, at any time.

Pros

  • Simple tutorials for beginners to gain a solid foundation
  • Examples are explained intuitively
  • Sessions are short for easy understanding and instant application to the user's own images
  • Several key Elements processes involving images are featured
  • User has access to the same files as Jane uses during the sessions
  • Over 4 hours of content which is a generous amount of information for beginning users
Cons
  • None observed
Observations
  • Appears to not play in modern "home multimedia" DVD players--only PC-based DVD players
Photo Retouching with Adobe Photoshop Elements is not only a terrific start in learning digital imaging, but a great addition to your collection of multimedia tutorials. Jane Conner-ziser demonstrates her skills in 16 sessions which convey an experienced teacher and user. For anyone using Adobe Elements, this is yet another DVD distributed by Software Cinema which is a winner.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLUS

Jane Conner-ziser should be added to your list of sought after instructors who put their knowledge in the multimedia realms, providing a resource for the digital imaging student and the occasional hobbyist who wants to extract more from their time.
