MPt = Total Megapixels on imager.
MPe = Effective Megapixels on imager. Effective means the number of pixels that are actually used in the image you are viewing. We are also seeing "Recorded Pixels" in the latest user manuals and on camera manufacturer websites, which mean the same thing. However, do take note this could change. Since Fuji has used the term "effective pixel" to mean photodiode (and Foveon is doing something similar), we may have to use Recorded Pixels (or "Active Pixels") to even be more specific.
* = Estimated Pixel Size.
1Kodak says 13.85MP online but also says 13.7MP in their DCS Pro 14n manual. Nothing major to worry about, and this is more of an FYI.
2Fuji gives their new 4th-generation Super CCD SR sensor the specs of 6.45 million S-pixels /6.45 million R-pixels total pixels; 6.17 million S-pixels /6.17 million R-pixels effective pixels to deliver 12.9 million total pixels, 12.34 million effective pixels. If that's not confusing, I don't what is. Bottom line, it's a 6.45 tMP / 6.17 eMP sensor.
3After several emails to Fuji, I still haven't received a response to their pixel sizes. Maybe someday I will. Until then, I did my own calculations for the Fuji S2, since it doesn't have the terribly confusing and nebulous descriptions of two different pixels.
