Using the Impact Acoustics 6x2 Component Video Matrix Switch was very simple. Looking at all the inputs and outputs of this device, a person could be hesitant to purchase such a piece of equipment, but I found the 40697 logically designed and functional for even a basic user of home theater equipment. If you can setup your receiver and DVD player to play through your television, you shouldn't have a problem with the Impact Acoustics 6x2 Component Video Matrix Switch. Now, let's discuss using the 40697 and what it can offer you.

Control Two Zones Of Audio & Video

What's really convenient about the the 40697 is that is permits two video sources to be simultaneously streaming via two different outputs. What this means to you is a rather versatile switching box. Watch a DVD on one television, while another person is playing their game console in the adjacent room. Want to see what they are seeing? No problem. Just a few button presses, and not only is the other person playing their games without interruption, but now you're seeing what they are playing as well. Maybe your friend wants to stop playing a video game and is interested in your movie that's playing? No problemo. A few button presses and now you're friend is watching the same movie. The possibilities of this dual-video output capability is quite dynamic.

Illuminating Convenience

Impact Acoustics uses colors to simplify the complexity of using multiple inputs and outputs. If the MODE switch is illuminating green, then all the video inputs are going to be output via the Output 1 jacks. If the MODE switch is illuminating red, then the video will be output simultaneously from the two outputs.

For example, suppose you have your DVD player connected to Input 1 on the back of the 40697. Output 1 is going to your television. By pressing the MODE button, making sure it is illuminating green, and then pressing the Input 1 button, you will see your DVD player's video playing on your television. Now, let's say you have a second television in another room, which is hooked up to the Output 2 of the 40697. You now want your DVD player to display the movie on the two televisions which are in two different locations. By pressing the MODE button so it displays red, and then pressing the input button which your DVD player is connected to (which is Input 1), you will have simultaneous video going to both televisions.

Remote Control

What puts the cherry on this electronic sundae, is including a remote. Not having remote control with a video switching device is like not having a remote for your television. Impact Acoustics includes a remote which can be programmed to your existing universal remote.
