Below are screencaps from Transformers: Dark Of The Moon on Blu-ray. Dark Of The Moon is featured in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio (1920 x 800 pixels), with an MPEG-4 AVC Transfer. The movie looks really good, considering the contrast and "grain" filters. When things need to be knife-sharp, they are, but overall still doesn't come across as too "digital". Because let's face it, this a lot of CG work in the Transformers movies, and the only way for it to come across as more real, is to include a slight grain filter.

UK Import Packaging: Eh...

I'm not even going to post an image of the packaging here as you can probably see it just fine on the introductory page. The packaging is the really irritating plastic type, which is very innocuous to ripping or tearing. Luckily, a person can open it up from the bottom with little difficulty.

Screencaps

Let's take a look at the first screencap from Transformers: Dark Of The Moon below. We have some beautiful images which unfortunately, don't stay long on the screen. In fact, I argue some of the best work — and probably the most expensive — are flashed before your eyes within a few seconds. I really feel for Megatron this time around. He has to keep his head covered because little Transformer Bugs are seemingly poking and prodding in his brain, attempting to mend some circuitry. The screenshot below scared the crap out of me on my 50" plasma.

The following three screenshots are just amazing, and look fabulous on the HDTV. If you have a projection television, you are privileged, indeed. Must I say again, these shots really don't last long. A few seconds. It's too bad we couldn't have an extended cut with a longer sequence of the below. I'd be all over that release. Michael Bay...are you listening?

This is another scene which passes by way too fast but looks great on your big non-tube.

Watching this Black Hole effect take place is worth the Repeat and A-B buttons on your Blu-ray player. Let's face it. You never used those buttons and features anyway, but now is the perfect opportunity.

Being a Transformer, I didn't know Megatron had so much blood in him. Until now. Dark Of The Moon adds more "Transformer Vital Liquid" to battle scenes.

Screencap Conclusion

Transformers:DOTM delivers on the action and battle sequences that are continually kicked-up a notch with every movie. Some spectacular effects that super-sharp but yet retain its slight grittiness and contrasted presentation.
