Logitech Z Cinema Combines Advanced Surround Sound,
Three-Amplifier Design in Dynamic 2.1 System

To address the needs of people using a PC as their primary source of entertainment, Logitech (SWX:LOGN) (NASDAQ:LOGI) today unveiled the Logitech(R) Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System. The Logitech Z Cinema speaker system accurately reproduces dialogue, symphonic film soundtracks, explosive gaming audio and subtle ambient sound - transforming PC audio into high-performance theater sound.

A perfect solution for Windows Media Center, the Logitech Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System features SRS(TM) TruSurround HD(TM), delivering a surround sound experience without the need for rear speakers, a unique three-amplifier design, two-way satellite speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer.

"Although people are trying to enjoy film, TV and music on their PC, many of them are dissatisfied with the complexity of surround sound speakers for the PC today," said Tim Leehane, director of product marketing for Logitech's Audio business unit. "The Logitech Z Cinema speaker system is for every person who wants outstanding audio quality and a surround sound experience from their PC, but doesn't want the hassle of setting up rear speakers. The difference is dramatic. We're very confident that people will enjoy this product."

And for those concerned with style, the Z Cinema speaker system looks as good as it sounds. The striking piano-black-and-silver design presents a clean, minimalist profile that is an elegant addition to any home or office.

Surround Sound Without Rear Speakers

To deliver high-performance sound and save space, the Z Cinema speaker system uses SRS TruSurround HD, which immerses people in surround sound and enhanced movie dialog - without the need for rear speakers. Using only two satellite speakers and a subwoofer, SRS TruSurround HD creates a broad sweet spot around the listener for maximum realism and enjoyment, while providing dialog enhancement in the center channel to ensure that voices are clear and intelligible.

Unique Three-Amplifier Design

Featuring an audio design typically seen in deluxe, custom stereo setups, the Z Cinema speaker system uses hybrid amplification to create a more natural, balanced listening experience for a desktop environment. The 180-watt (RMS) Z Cinema speaker system is powered by a premium three-amplifier design with a digital crossover equalizer. Using hybrid Class D and Class AB amplifiers, the Z Cinema speaker system realistically reproduces high-, mid- and low-range frequencies. Each amplifier delivers an independent, digitally equalized signal that minimizes distortion and creates a broad soundfield. As a result, no matter where people sit to enjoy their entertainment, the Z Cinema speaker system provides accurate, crystal clear sound.

To further support a high-performance listening experience, Logitech used laser tuning to design a set of drivers that create far less distortion than those developed using only acoustic measurements. As a result, the one-inch textile dome tweeters, three-inch ventilated midwoofers and eight-inch long-throw subwoofer deliver more accurate frequency response, detail and clarity.

USB Digital Audio

A single USB cable provides a pure, 24-bit digital audio signal, transporting data with minimal distortion. With USB, people can expect simple, no-hassle installation. And because it's USB, the PC soundcard can be bypassed, which means that the Z Cinema speaker system can enhance the audio experience for any PC or laptop. No matter what kind of PC setup is present, the Z Cinema speakers provide high-fidelity sound.

The Z Cinema speakers also include a convenient headphone jack that enables private listening, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input that can connect to MP3 players or other audio devices.

Media Center Remote

The Z Cinema speaker system also includes a powerful Media Center remote that delivers all the advantages of remote control functionality for the PC-entertainment experience. With its dedicated Windows Media Center button, the remote helps people easily manage digital media - including Internet radio and playlists. A convenient scroll wheel allows people to quickly navigate through TV shows, video clips, Internet radio, albums, artists and any other type of digital media.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in January. The suggested retail price is $299.99 (U.S.).
