Futuremark Announces An Intelligent Gamer Website
March 7, 2007

Origin Of News Release: Game Developers Conference 2007, San Francisco CA
Original Release Date: March 7, 2007
Announcement: Intelligent Gamer Website by Futuremark Corporation
Availability: Now

Futuremark Corporation, developers of 3DMark, the worldwide standard in advanced 3D game performance benchmarking went live today with the beta version of YouGamers™, the World’s First Intelligent Gamer Website. YouGamers (www.YouGamers.com) is a new destination site for PC gamers offering original game content, previews, gaming industry news, exclusive interviews, and full game reviews.

YouGamers initially launches with an English website, with localized language options in the future. In Version 1.0, YouGamers will provide a full gamer community with forums and blogs, offering users’ homepages, personal profiles, game lists, and game hardware details.

YouGamers’ proprietary Game-o-meter™ gaming performance analysis service is the first of its kind in gaming websites. The free service is based on Futuremark’s comprehensive database of over 13 million real world benchmark results. On request, the service scans user’s PC, and then estimates the system’s gaming performance, providing the gamer with an accurate assessment as to how well their PC measures up on every game in the YouGamers’ database.

The game database contains approximately 100 top PC titles at launch, with ESRB ratings and publishers’ system requirements. The website also offers an easy to use, integrated comparison shopping service with direct shopping links for all games and recommended hardware. Users will also be able to categorize the site’s information by tagging, a Web 2.0 feature.

YouGamers’ Editor-in-Chief Nick Evanson heads up the professional content team. Reviews include editors’ game-play ratings with system and hardware recommendations to provide a truly enjoyable gaming experience. Produced by playing each game on various PC configurations, from entry level systems to a high performance gaming PCs, game reviews provide a professional estimation of the real-world system requirements for game-play. Combining subjective game-play reviews with objective performance data from the Game-o-meter™ service, YouGamers’ users will be able to predict their actual game experience in advance.

“YouGamers is a complete web resource for gamers that offers a full range of game information and an active community, but with an intelligent twist. Every gamer website up to this point has only provided a piece of the puzzle, largely ignoring the relationship between PC hardware and game-play,” said Tero Sarkkinen, EVP Sales and Marketing of Futuremark Corporation. “We’ll provide the regular news, reviews, links, content and forums, but YouGamers is smarter than that. Aside from serving the enthusiast gamer with detailed gaming performance analysis, we also help all gamers by telling them which games their PC can play well, before they actually buy one. We also give reliable upgrade and new PC purchase advice for an even better enjoyment of gaming. YouGamers is going to change what gamers expect from game websites."

Since this news release, Futuremark has a review of Test Drive Unlimited, Resident Evil 4, and also has an exclusive with Remedy, who are creating Alan Wake, which is probably understated as a psychological action thriller--I would imagine it is going to be much much more.

Futuremark is expanding their talents, and I most certainly welcome a more intelligent gaming review website. As stated above in the press release, what makes YouGamers.com different from the rest of the gaming clone websites, is the addition of real-world PC configurations. YouGamers.com. It's the next evolution of gaming review websites.
