CES
The Largest Annual Tradeshow
In North America
For 5th Straight Year

May 9, 2006

Arlington, VA (May 9, 2006) - The 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's premier industry event for consumer technology, topped the latest Tradeshow Week 200 list as the largest annual tradeshow in the United States and Canada for the fifth consecutive year.

"Being ranked at the top of the Tradeshow Week 200 list for the fifth year in a row is an exceptional honor and a testament to the dynamic nature and growth of the consumer electronics industry," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), producer of the International CES. "As we showcase the best of the best within the consumer electronics industry and produce several major shows-within-a-show at CES, this ranking reinforces the International CES as a must-attend global event for all communities within the consumer technology industry."

The 2005 International CES was the largest in show history in terms of overall attendance, international attendance and exhibitor square footage. The record-breaking attendance for 2005 topped more than 140,000, including more than 22,000 international attendees, and showed a nine percent jump from 2004. The size of the show floor increased 11 percent from 2004, with exhibitors utilizing 1.5 million net square feet of exhibit space.

"We experienced phenomenal success at the 2005 International CES that we continue to leverage moving forward," said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences, CEA. "As we continue to build off our past success and expand the show, including the move of our high-performance audio and home theater markets to The Venetian in 2007, we look forward to the International CES continuing to serve as the global launch pad for consumer technology."

The high-performance audio and home theater categories will fall under one market umbrella at the 2007 International CES, expanding to the ballrooms and demonstration suites at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian. The move to The Venetian comes on the heels of the successful expansion to the Sands Expo and Convention Center in 2006, the adjoining venue to The Venetian.

CEA recently released the final attendance numbers for the 2006 International CES, verified by an independent audit conducted by VERIS consulting. Audit results showed a 4.3 percent increase in overall attendance at the 2006 show, drawing more than 150,000 industry professionals, including more than 25,000 international attendees. The 2006 show also reached a milestone in terms of square footage, as 2,700 exhibitors showcased their latest products on more than 1.69 million net square feet of exhibit space.

The 2007 International CES will be held in Las Vegas January 8-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton and the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian. Pre-show events will begin on Saturday, January 6 with CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the International CES.
