New Digital Imaging Applications Developed For Lexar's ActiveMemory System to Improve Professional Photography Workflow

February 27, 2006

Orlando, Florida (February 27, 2006) Lexar Media, Inc. (Nasdaq:LEXR), a world leader in advanced digital media technologies today announced several applications developed for the ActiveMemory System (AMS), the company's innovative digital photography workflow technology. New and improved professional photo-imaging applications now supporting ActiveMemory, including Photo Mechanic by Camera Bits, Corel Paint Shop Pro X, and ProShooters Digital Pro 4, will be demonstrated at the Photo Marketing Association International Show (PMA). Lexar is also introducing Lexar Smart Download, an innovative image acquisition plug-in enabling Adobe Creative Suite 2 (CS2) customers to download images and take advantage of the AMS workflow when using the Adobe Bridge Image Browser.

"We are thrilled to announce these applications from industry-leading companies as their support really validates the many potential benefits our ActiveMemory technology offers photographers," said John Omvik, director of professional product marketing, Lexar. "The growing community of professional and prosumer digital photographers who rely on these applications will now be able to capitalize on time-saving benefits provided by Lexar's ActiveMemory System."

Each of the new applications supporting AMS serve photographers at different points of the digital imaging process as each software developer is tailoring the technology to address the needs of their customers:

Photo Mechanic, by Camera Bits, was the first commercial application to support AMS and helped to define the AMS interface. In its implementation, users can store all of their "Ingest" or download preferences as well as IPTC captioning and copyright information in the AMS space on the user's flash memory card, saving valuable time for the photographer.

Corel(R) Paint Shop Pro X(TM) uses AMS to store scripts that can be run by the application to automate different types of batch image processing operations during the download process.

Digital Pro 4 by ProShooters now supports concurrent downloads from multiple readers and uses AMS to automatically launch the "Load Card Wizard" and apply user defined captions and copyright information to images as they are being downloaded into the application.

The Lexar Smart Download plug-in for Adobe Bridge brings AMS directly to the Adobe Creative Suite 2 workflow. This plug-in takes the users IPTC Metadata and appends it to images as they are being downloaded into the Adobe Bridge, making the task of organizing and captioning large numbers of images for future reference more manageable.

In addition to new applications, Lexar is also expanding its memory card offering with the addition of AMS on Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards. AMS-enabled SD cards will be compatible with SD-enabled consumer electronic devices.

Lexar provides a royalty free license for any software or hardware developer interested in adding support for AMS in their products. A complete SDK is available on request. Interested developers should contact Lexar at http://www.lexar.com/activememory.

Lexar will demonstrate the AMS applications along with its full line of professional photography products at PMA in booth #4140.
