SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 19, 2005 - Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced it will begin to bundle Adobeฎ Acrobat 7.0 Standard software with its entire suite of fi-series scanners shipping within the United States, including workgroup, departmental, and production level models. Additionally, the company is introducing the Fujitsu fi-5530C high-speed, duplex color scanner the fastest landscape departmental scanner on the market. The Fujitsu fi-5530C will officially be unveiled at the 50th Annual ARMA 2005 Conference and Exposition in Chicago, Ill. on September 18-20, 2005.
Fujitsu is the first imaging vendor to bundle Acrobat 7.0 Standard across its entire scanner line. Now, with Acrobat 7.0 Standard, users have even more features and functionality to create, secure, share, review, and archive files. Moreover, Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files have become the defacto file format for corporations within the banking, education, energy, financial, government, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries.
"Fujitsu and Adobe have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship, pairing industry leading document imaging solutions with Acrobat and Adobe PDF to better address the needs of customers in the Global 1000 and key vertical markets," said John Hoye, senior business development manager, Paper-to-Digital, Adobe Systems Incorporated. "Businesses today are looking for opportunities to accomplish more with fewer resources by fully optimizing their existing workflow processes. The combination of Fujitsu scanners, Acrobat and Adobe PDF provides customers what they need to improve operations without revamping their infrastructure."
The new Fujitsu fi-5530C scanner, which comes bundled with Acrobat 7.0 Standard, is now the fastest departmental landscape scanner on the market and continues the Fujitsu legacy of offering decentralized, high quality image capture to the desktop at a highly competitive price. The Fujitsu fi-5530C boasts speeds of up to 47 ppm (simplex) / 94 ipm (duplex) so that it can quickly and efficiently transform paper documents into manageable digital files. The scanner also offers true 600dpi optical resolution, a 100-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and dual-CCD scanning arrays to consistently capture fine details in color and monochrome, all for only $3,995 (U.S. list).
To further separate this innovative scanner from the competition, the Fujitsu fi-5530C offers ultrasonic double-feed detection, selectable black and white background, auto de-skew, auto-cropping, page counter, RGB color dropout, long/odd sized document scanning (2.1" x 2.9" to 8.5" x 34") and hard card scanning capabilities. It is also the smallest A3 departmental scanner on the market with a footprint of only 11.9" x 16" x 9".
"Over the past few years we've seen dramatic expansion within the departmental scanning segment and have tried to address that demand with new scanner and feature introductions," said Scott Francis, director product marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "Fujitsu is dedicated to giving customers the document management capabilities they need as indicated by new scanner introductions such as the fi-5530C and relationships with leading companies like Adobe. Together, Fujitsu and Adobe are offering customers a complete set of tools to build an effective document management solution."
The Fujitsu fi-5530C departmental scanner also comes bundled with ScandAll 21, allowing users to quickly and easily integrate the scanner into existing workflows, and Kofax's newest version of VirtualReScanฎ (VRS) 4.0 automated document image-perfecting software. The scanner supports TWAIN and ISIS drivers and includes Ultra SCSI and Hi-speed USB 2.0 interface options.
