I will be getting at least one 1GB Card when I do finally purchase my DSLR. I'm wondering what experience anyone has had with either of the SanDisk Ultra II or the SanDisk Extreme cards and also the Lexar 40x WA cards.

I could be off-base, but from what I've seen there's a pretty big "camera-card" relationship you need to look into in order to properly answer that question. I think some cameras work better with some cards than others (whether the are WA-enabled is certainly a consideration).

This web site has done extensive testing with many different cameras and many different cards. On the drop down menu to the right top of the page you should find the cameras you are debating between and it will have a table on that page stating actual write times for Jpeg and RAW for that camera and different CF cards. Hope this helps.

Go look at the site John pointed to ... GOOD INFORMATION

There are several factors - card speed, camera write speed, camera buffering speed.
For example some cameras write at the same speed regardless of the CF performance capability.
But when you put the CF card in a reader on the PC it flies. Oh yeah and make sure your CF reader
on the PC and your USB interface are at least HI-speed USB V2 to get the most on both ends.

The differences can be quite amazing 2.5 seconds versus 5.6 seconds to write an image.

The site is great. I didn't think a 512mb Ultra II would be faster than the 1GB version. (in the D70 at least) Thanks John.
