I think if all these companies that are being sued over the jpeg compression jumped on the J2K band wagon, others would follow, jpeg woudl stop as we know it, and everything would move to J2K. things like DVD players, IE, and printing Kiosk would have to convert, besides it wouldnt be that tough, a little firm ware upgrade maybe?

Unless Fuji Frontier printers support it, it's useless. IMO

I looked at it and tried it out to see if the "lossless" version does anything for me... so far nothing
spectacular or warrenting a switch. The sizes are about the same and the speed is slower.
Standard JPEG is lossey but I only use it as input (from the camera ) and output (to the web),
the rest of the steps are in PSD format.

Agreed .. if it's not supported by the major bulk printers and gets used in the browsers... useless for now.

I think the whole Jpeg law suit will be eventually tossed out anyway, too much precidence of use.

I have JP2 installed but never got the serial number for it. When I use JPG for printing, I set compression to 0 (100% quality) and never have a problem. Sure its big. But it is smaller than TIFF and prints just fine.

I should add that most browsers are looking at PNG as it is supposed to be free of patented work (where have we heard that before).

Okay, I downloaded the new plug in but I could not install it because I don't have the "magic" password and the serial number they sent is not the password needed to install the plug-in.

So I deleted it. :|
