Yeah, they will probably have an M-4 pointed to my head while I try to explain that it's a simple battery in a fancy enclosure... that it's made from LiFePo cells that is the safest lithium battery type of the bunch, but do you think the screener would even comprehend?

Are you basing this design from the LibertyPak Little Genny LG400?

They're selling that thing for about $3k! Aside from the price, they're pretty cool. They have an XLR port as well to power video equipment, attach a solar charge panel, or to daisy chain multiple packs together.

Something like that. I saw that and I thought it would be a better container than a lens case. First, because of weight issues - I don't think it would have been comfortable carrying nearly 6 pounds around my waist. Second, because I didn't want a loose cable dangling from the lens case, that eventually would wear down and possibly damage the battery leads. And third, I would most likely use it in conjunction with a lightstand, and not so much on a monopod/boom with an assistant holding it.

Damn, this project is getting expensive... and dangerous. I just got back from the ER where I got four stitches on my left middle finger It was a pretty bad gash I got from one of the aluminum pieces I was working on. Next time I'll secure the piece with screws instead of trying to hold it in my hand as I drill through...
