I read a lot of comments about people talking about the commercial being done for the Rebel but shot with a 1D3 as a problem. I think that has little to do with the commercial is saying. The commercial is about capturing the moments of a persons journey through life with a focus on football. Showing people of all ages playing the game in it's many forms from backyard, street ball, and playing in the surf to playing professionally. This is done as an identifier. The average person who enjoys football, enjoys the game professionally on TV or by attending as a fan, and likely plays the game in some respect be it casual, organized, whatever. They can identify with playing in the backyard with family & friends, snapping casual action photos. Who knows maybe your kid will make it to the NFL - people love their kids and the thought of success. Here are glimpses of people's journey though life aspiring to play football. So capture those backyard moments now with an EOS Rebel!
I think the reason why Canon made a big deal about shooting the commercial with 1D3 cameras is to give the camera some positive press. The 1D3 has a black cloud over it, deservingly or not, thanks to the initial AF debacle. I think Canon was doing a "2fer" showing off the quality and capabilities of the 1D3 as well as promoting the Rebel.
