Pixel Critic

Postby JoePhoto » Oct Thu 14, 2004 12:08 am

I came across a new site called Pixel Critic - which is an image critique site. It is divided by camera manufacturer and so far have a Nikon, Canon, & Four-Thirds section. There are some really nice images there on all the sections. It is really worth a look.

JB - perhaps an alliance between PC and DD?

If you're critiquing the photo, why does it matter what brand the camera is? ;)

Definitely a nice place to share photos. DD will have its own members image sharing galleries soon!

God, I sound like MacArthur.

It doesn't Mark, but the site layout is very nice. If you can pull this off at DD - I'll be VERY impressed JB!

I think the site looks pretty good. Once we implement our hosting thing, it will be better. :D

DD is going to be RSS by the way. I've been looking into this and it doesn't seem too difficult--as long as you don't have dozens of news releases a day which make a person's email get rather large--I know because I've been subscribing to a few RSS feeds and it gets old if you don't have different content.

I'll be putting out new RSS feeds probably once a week, as every single day would be a little too much unless Photokina or PMA or something.

DDRSS, or something like it is in the works. I even made a graphic for it over the weekend. Currently, I'm juggling photo hosting, prices, quirks of the new template brought about by yours truly, as well as a few dozen other things.

DD is close to changing over, and now I'm just waiting for a good deal on a particular hoster I have in mind.

Remember 4images? That Pixel Critic looks like it's run on that or something very similar. It is a nice layout.

Email forum?

All it is, is a link you add to your RSS client which is integrated with your email client. A program which integrates into your email such as News Gator, grabs the link and checks to see if anything has changed. If so, you get an email with new links to various articles, previews, or whatever.
