Oh Crap... There goes the budget!

Discuss all brands of lenses, such as Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, etc.

I may have to experiment, after I figure out how to rig it up, with a purchase I made just after Christmas.

My local camera store had some silver/gold collapsable reflectors, and I picked up the 12" one to carry around in my bag.

Might be interesting to see what kind of bounced light I can get from my 550ex with the gold side. :D

Getting some great information from everyone these past couple of days, which is what makes The Dingus Clan the best group around.

In regards to using a full CTO to match incandescent light, I wasn't meaning you should do that for people shots. I can see how it looks like I was saying that. We used full CTO when shooting an interior with mixed hotlights and strobes (to match the strobes to the hotlights), or when shooting an exterior at dusk with strobes (for that extra warm sunset light look). As Joe said, by not using any CTO your strobe will remain cooler than the typical incandescent lighting, helping your subjects stand out. I don't think I would ever use more than a 1/4 CTO when going for a natural look with shooting people, it gives just a touch of warmth like having a light tan. If I was going for a bit less natural of a look and wanted a very warm / orange color effect, that is when to use 1/2 CTO or more.

That's what I figured you were saying - I just wanted to help make it clear to Vance and other reading this thread.

Just checked the B&H site, my lens is on it's way baby!!! :giddy

By my estimates, it should arrive on my doorstep just as I'm starting my days off. :D

I think I need to call my buddy to see if they've changed their minds about me shooting their wedding though.

Haven't heard from him in a couple days, and I need to know yay or nay so I can submit my day off to the boss man.

From everything I've heard, thats a very nice lens to have in your arsenal. I wouldn't mind having that one myself.

I just went online to check it's progress, and it's currently at DFW airport, which means it's only hours away!!!

Might get to play with it this evening after I wake up. :giddy

Vance, you need to remember to take all your meds. You wouldn't want to scare the nice UPS driver away. ;)
